My passion lies in practical application and hands-on manufacturing, as showcased in my workshop-heavy final university project. Gilded Scars

Gilded Scars is an armchair that has been designed to inspire and change the formalities of furniture design when using defective timber. This armchair is comprised of three different types of timber: oak, elm and quilted sycamore in which all share the quality of being infested with wood worm. These trees will have been growing for 20, 50 up to 100 years; for the material to be disregarded due to defects. This project aims to show designers and manufacturers in the furniture industry that wood worm and other defects are not a hold back, but in fact a beauty that deserves to be celebrated.
